AEGIS Electric Bike Workshop
A $45,000 grant from the American Electric Power Foundation gave 24 girls, nine teachers and one parent from area middle schools the opportunity to experience practical ways to learn and teach energy and science concepts. The Activating & Energizing Girls’ Involvement in Science (AEGIS) workshop is designed to empower girls to enter the realm of science and energy-related fields while giving teachers the tools to make these topics more interesting in the classroom. Students and teachers from Christian Middle School and Washington Middle School in Laredo, Premont Junior High School, Freer Junior High School, Hebbronville Junior High School and Falfurrias Junior High School will participate in the three-day workshop, which was held June 9-11 at the Embassy Suites in Laredo.
