Martin Refuge (Valley Land Fund Images)
During early 2008, I had the pleasure of competiting in the Valley Land Fund's South Texas Shootout http://www.valleylandfund.com/), my very first nature and wildlife photo contest. The goal of the Valley Land Photo Contest is to create a partnership among businesses, private landowners and wildlife photographers, where all participants benefit while promoting the conservation and protection of wildlife and habitat. Landowners and photographers compete as teams and share equally in the significant prize money. Additionally, they promote wildlife conservation while participating in the most challenging wildlife photo contest in the world.
John Martin, the creator of the Valley Land Fund photo contest and the Images for Conservation Fund Pro-Tour of Nature Photography, gave me the opportunity to photograph on the Martin Refuge. Guide and fellow photographer Patty Raney graciously shared her time and knowledge during my visits. Although I did not any of the prizes, I thoroughly enjoyed this first expirience and look forward to similar endearvors in the future.
Note: Over the next few weeks, I will be adding additional images captured during the South Texas Shoot Out.
